A: No. A tutor will be assigned to you.
Q: Will I have the same tutor for each session?
A: English1on1 will try to provide the same tutor for each session. However, English1on1 reserves the right to provide a substitute tutor, or switch a student's tutor, at any time.
Q: How do I schedule sessions with a tutor?
Q: What do I need to have for a tutoring session?
A: You need a computer with Internet access, a microphone, and speakers/earphones or a phone.
Q: What happens in a tutoring session?
A: In a General Topics session, the tutor will help you improve all aspects of your ability to speak and understand English as you both go over the selected topics. In the iBT and IELTS sessions, you will practice questions from the speaking sections of those tests with a tutor who will grade your responses and give you feedback.
Q: What if I need to reschedule a session?
A: If you are absent from a class, you cannot make up that class, and you will not receive a refund. If the absence is because of special circumstances, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: What happens if an English1on1 tutor cancels a session?
A: Students will not be charged if English1on1 cancels a session. English1on1 will e-mail students to set up a makeup session.

Q: Can you help me prepare for exams like the TOEFL?
A: Yes, English1on1 helps students practice the oral part of the new TOEFL, which is now called iBT.
Q: Can English1on1 tutors help me with my schoolwork?
A: Yes, tutors will give you reasonable help with your English-related work. Ask your tutor if they can help you.
Q: How often should I work with a tutor?
A: You should work with a tutor as often as you can, but English1on1 requires that you have at least two sessions a week.
Q: How long are the tutoring sessions?
A: Each tutoring session lasts 30 minutes. Thirty minutes is the most efficient time for one-on-one talking. Some students will get tired if the session lasts too long.
Q: What if I get disconnected during a tutoring session?
A: If you are disconnected during a tutoring session, the tutor will immediately call you back to continue the discussion. If the tutor is unable to reconnect with you, he or she will call the phone number that you registered when you signed up. If the tutor is still unable to reconnect with you, the tutor will record that the session was incomplete, and you can make up the lost time later.
Q: How can I hear the tutor clearly?
A: You can do three things to help ensure the best sound quality. First, make sure that you have good quality earphones and speakers. Second, check your sound settings on your computer. Third, make a free Skype Test Call. If at any time you feel that the sound quality is not good, please tell your tutor immediately.
Q: What if there is a problem with the sound during a session?
A: The tutor will redial and call you again. If there is still a problem, the tutor will call the phone number that you registered when you signed up. If there is still a problem, the tutor will record that there was a problem with the session and your time will be saved. You should also e-mail email@example.com about the problem and note how many minutes you had already spoken to the tutor before the problem occurred.
Q: At what times do the tutoring sessions take place?
A: Check the Registration page for information on what times sessions can be scheduled.
Q: Where should I go for my session with a tutor?
A: You don’t need to go anywhere. The tutor will contact you at home or anywhere else you would prefer to conduct the session.
Q: Can I try a session before signing up?
A: Yes, you can. You can register for a sample session on the Registration page. Look there for more information about arranging a sample session.
Q: Will I get a refund if I cannot finish the sessions or if I am not satisfied with the program?
A: Unfortunately, refunds for sessions cannot be given. If a student is dissatisfied with the program in any way, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. English1on1 will do everything possible to ensure student satisfaction.
